Recognized as a 'W' category institution, the university is a vital center for preserving the Balochi language while advancing modern technical skills in Computer Science and Biotechnology. With its primary campus on Airport Road, UoT serves as a beacon of intellectual hope for thousands of students from Turbat, Panjgur, and Awaran, offering a secure and high-tech environment that bridges the gap between remote landscapes and global professional standards.
The University of Turbat was chartered in May 2012 by the Government of Balochistan to provide accessible higher education to the people of Mekran division. [Image of University of Turbat Foundation Stone] It officially commenced its academic journey in early 2013, inheriting the infrastructure of the former sub-campus of the University of Balochistan. Under the visionary leadership of its founding Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, the university rapidly expanded from a few rooms into a massive multi-faculty complex. In a significant move to decentralize education, its former sub-campuses in Gwadar and Panjgur were eventually upgraded to independent universities, cementing UoT's legacy as a pioneer of regional academic empowerment.
