Strategically located on Farid Town Road, it serves as the divisional center for research and higher education. The university is known for its rapidly expanding infrastructure, including high-tech IT blocks and specialized research wings for the Natural Sciences. It offers a vibrant, secure, and inclusive campus life, catering to over 7,000 students with a strong focus on aligning local talent with global professional standards.

The university's journey began in January 2005 as a sub-campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, inaugurated by the then Governor of Punjab. To meet the growing educational demands of the region, the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab passed the 'University of Sahiwal Act' in 2015, upgrading the sub-campus to a full-fledged independent divisional university. Since then, it has transformed into a comprehensive academic hub, inheriting a legacy of excellence and expanding into 10+ professional departments including Law, Computing, and Management Sciences.

For the 2026 session, BS Morning programs in Business, Economics, and Social Sciences are highly subsidized at approx 27,990 PKR per semester. Technical programs like BS Computer Science and IT are approx 46,770 PKR (1st Sem) and ~42,000 PKR thereafter. Evening/Self-Support sessions range between 48,000 and 52,000 PKR. A one-time Admission Fee of approx 3,450 - 6,450 PKR is included in the initial semester package. Transport charges are approx 3,000 PKR (City) or 5,000 PKR (Peripheral) per semester.
