University of Poonch Rawalakot

UPR is a premier public sector university recognized as the top institution in Azad Jammu & Kashmir according to the THE Impact Rankings 2025 (placed in the 601-800 bracket globally). Nestled in the scenic heights of Rawalakot, the university operates across five distinct sites, including its specialized Kahuta Haveli and Mong campuses. UPR’s heritage began in 1980 as the Faculty of Agriculture, a sub-campus of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. For over three decades, it served as the region's primary center for agricultural research. Recognizing the need for a comprehensive independent university in the Poonch division, the Government of AJK formally upgraded the campus to the University of Poonch Rawalakot in 2012. Since its independence, it has rapidly diversified, establishing state-of-the-art faculties in Engineering, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences, now serving as a multi-campus educational beacon for thousands of students across the liberated territory.

Highly subsidized for the 2026 session. General BS programs in Arts and Social Sciences range from 35,000 to 45,000 PKR. Technical programs (CS, Software Engineering) are approx 65,000 - 68,000 PKR per semester. BEMS (Eastern Medicine) and DPT are the most premium at approx 85,000 PKR. A one-time Admission/Registration fee of approx 15,000 PKR is included in the first-semester package. Hostel charges are remarkably low at approx 8,000 PKR per semester.
