Gwadar, Balochistan
The academic gateway to the Blue Economy and the heart of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. UG is a strategic public sector institution established to transform Gwadar into a global hub of knowledge. It focuses on Maritime Affairs, Marine Sciences, and CPEC-linked logistics. The university is unique for its integration with the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute (PCT&VI), providing hands-on training in port management and digital technologies. With its first convocation scheduled for 2026, the university is rapidly expanding into postgraduate research, aiming to empower the coastal youth to lead international trade and maritime innovation.
The university was operationalized as an autonomous institution on October 25, 2021, under the leadership of its first Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir. Previously, it functioned as the Gwadar sub-campus of the University of Turbat from 2016 to 2021. Its elevation to a full university was a response to the critical need for a localized center of excellence that could cater to the massive socio-economic changes brought about by the Gwadar Port development and CPEC Phase 2.0.
