The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is the largest and oldest institution of higher learning in the region. Headquartered in the scenic capital of Muzaffarabad, it operates multiple campuses including the Chehla Bandi main campus and the newly constructed King Abdullah Campus at Chattar Klass. The university is globally noted for its Institute of Geology, which has become a hub for seismic and environmental research following the 2005 earthquake.
