Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) is a major public sector university located in the heart of Upper Sindh. Named after the great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, the university is situated in Khairpur Mir's, a region famous for its rich history and date palms. It houses the unique 'Date Palm Research Institute' (DPRI) and the 'Sachal Sarmast Chair', playing a pivotal role in the socio-economic and cultural development of the region.
Originally established in 1976 as a campus of the University of Sindh, it was upgraded to a full-fledged independent university in 1986.
