Quetta, Balochistan
Balochistan’s premier sanctuary for female higher education. Situated on a 40-acre campus on Brewery Road, SBKWU is the first women-only university in the province and the third in Pakistan. It is dedicated to empowering women in a culturally secure environment, offering over 72 degree programs ranging from the Life Sciences to Humanities. The university serves as a vital engine for social change, providing a safe haven for intellectual pursuit and leadership development for over 8,600 female scholars from across the province.
The university was established in 2004 by the Governor of Balochistan, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani, through an ordinance. It is housed in the historic Sardar Bahadur Khan Sanatorium building, which was generously donated by Pakistan Railways without any compensation—a historic transformation from a medical facility to a seat of learning. Inaugurated on March 18, 2004, it was named after Sardar Bahadur Khan, former Agent to the Governor General and brother of former President Ayub Khan. It has since expanded its reach with sub-campuses in Khuzdar, Pishin, and Noshki.
