The premier institute for textile education in Pakistan, located in the industrial hub of Faisalabad (Manchester of Pakistan). It covers the entire textile value chain from fiber to fashion, serving as the primary research arm for the country's massive textile export industry.
Founded in 1959 as the Institute of Textile Technology by a consortium of leading industrialists and the Government of Punjab. The foundation stone was laid by President Ayub Khan. It was upgraded to a federal university in 2002 to meet the growing technical needs of the textile sector.
