Mianwali, Punjab
A world-class 'Knowledge City' rising from the rugged mountains of the Salt Range. Founded by Imran Khan, Namal is a landmark non-profit institution dedicated to providing top-tier technical education to rural Pakistan. It is designed to be a self-sustaining educational township, featuring architecture that mirrors international standards and a unique 'Need-Blind' admission policy. The university serves as a social equalizer, where the brightest minds from underprivileged backgrounds study alongside their peers on 100% scholarships, supported by a massive global donor network.
The Namal story began in 2005 when the vision was set to empower the youth of Mianwali through a high-standard technical institute. It was inaugurated in 2008 as Namal College, initially operating as an associate college of the University of Bradford, UK. For over a decade, it maintained a strong British academic partnership until it was granted an independent degree-awarding charter by the Punjab Government in early 2019. Today, it is the centerpiece of the ambitious 'Namal Knowledge City' project, which aims to become the largest university town in Pakistan by 2027.
