Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jeelani Institute of Medical Sciences (PAQSJIMS) is a world-renowned public sector medical institute located in Gambat, District Khairpur.It is celebrated as Pakistan's first public facility to offer free liver and bone marrow transplants, transforming a remote town into a 'Health City'. The institute is an independent degree-awarding body recognized by the HEC and PM&DC. It features a massive 300-bed tertiary care hospital, a specialized Kidney Dialysis Center, and an advanced Heart Center. GIMS is unique for its 'Robotic Pharmacy' and its role as a regional hub for complex organ transplants and oncology research.
Started as a small dispensary in 1934, it evolved into a Model Taluka Hospital by 1997. It was upgraded to an institute in 2003 and granted the status of an independent degree-awarding university in 2011.
