Founded in 2002 by the late Muhammad Anwar Dar, a visionary businessman, GIFT was established as the first private-sector university in the Gujranwala region. It was chartered by the Government of Punjab on January 4, 2002. Since its inception, it has evolved from a small institute focused on Information Technology into a comprehensive university with six distinct schools, becoming a central landmark for higher education on the main GT Road.

For the 2026 cycle, BS CS/IT programs are the most premium at approx 184,000 PKR per semester. BS English and Mass Communication are the most affordable, starting at ~59,700 PKR. BBA and Management programs are approx 90,500 PKR. A one-time Admission Fee of 10,000 PKR and a security deposit of 5,000 PKR are typical at the time of joining.
