Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab
The academic heart of the Koh-e-Suleiman region and the DG Khan Division. Ghazi University is a premier public sector institution formed by the strategic merger of several historic colleges. It operates two distinct sites: the urban City Campus near Pull Daat and the massive 1,189-acre Airport Campus. The university is a 'W' category institution recognized for its strong focus on Agricultural Sciences and local economic development. It serves as a vital bridge for higher education in Southern Punjab, providing modern research facilities and inclusive learning opportunities to over 10,000 students from the cross-provincial borders of Punjab, Balochistan, and KPK.
The university was formally established in 2012 at the initiative of the Punjab Government, but its roots are far older. It was created by merging the historic Government Post Graduate College (est. 1945), the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) sub-campus, and the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) sub-campus in DG Khan. Originally named after the Baloch leader Ghazi Khan, the university represents a transformation of colonial-era educational infrastructure into a modern multi-disciplinary seat of learning. Since its inception, it has evolved into a comprehensive university with four major faculties and over 21 departments.
