Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology

The first and only federal university in Pakistan primarily dedicated to using Urdu as a medium of instruction. Operating primarily from its Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Abdul Haq campuses in Karachi, FUUAST is a unique institution that balances the preservation of national language with modern scientific education. It is recognized for its extensive research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Technology, offering a wide range of degrees at highly subsidized rates to ensure accessible education for all.

The university's roots date back to 1949 when the legendary 'Baba-e-Urdu' Dr. Maulvi Abdul Haq established the Urdu College in Karachi with the mission of teaching all subjects in Urdu. This vision was realized at a grander scale on November 13, 2002, when the college was upgraded to a full Federal University by a Presidential Ordinance. It was formed by merging the historic Federal Urdu Arts College and Federal Urdu Science College. Today, it stands as a federal institution with its headquarters in Karachi and a vibrant satellite campus in Islamabad.

FUUAST remains one of the most affordable public universities. Morning BS programs in Social Sciences start as low as 30,500 PKR. For 2026, Morning BSCS/BSAI are approx 71,500 - 76,500 PKR (1st Sem). Evening programs are higher: BSCS is approx 77,000 PKR and Pharm-D is approx 106,600 PKR at the time of admission. Subsequent semesters typically drop by 15,000 - 20,000 PKR.
