Ghazal 1: Patta Patta Boota Boota (غزل ۱: پتا پتا بوٹا بوٹا)

It is a lament of unrequited love, separation, and the beloved's negligence, expressed in Mir's signature simple yet poignant style.

In this famous ghazal, 'God of Poetry' Mir Taqi Mir states that every leaf and plant knows his condition, meaning the whole world is aware of his suffering. Only his beloved (the flower) remains ignorant. The lover is so naive that he views the loss of his life as a gain. The beloved is unfamiliar with loyalty and kindness but is an expert in sarcasm and signs. Mir is so captivated that he joyfully accepts the beloved's cruelty (sword's edge), considering it as the water of life.
